[Women's Cross Country] Lady Cavs win 2008 Southeastern Classic!Published by
On a cool Saturday morning, on the campus of Berry College the Lady Cavalier cross country team made school history this weekend by winning the 19-team Southeastern Classic. The Lady Cavs (67 points) managed to hold off a tough Berry College (77 pts) team in route to a 10 point win and their best performance of the season. Both Montreat and Berry had been receiving NAIA national votes in the recent national rankings. Coach Larios was really excited about the Lady Cavs' performances, "This win came at the right time for us. They've been working toward a specific goal all season and this is a significant step toward it. We're so proud of their toughness. Artie had an awesome breakthrough race today, one that we've been waiting for all season. She now has the necessary confidence in her training." In a race of 150 ladies, Montreat managed to place four runners in the top 15. The Lady Cavaliers were once again paced by senior Talisa Bishop who placed 5th in a season best time of 19:24.34. Freshman sensation Lindsay Mizok, finishing strong down the final 400 meters, finished in 10th place overall in 19:39.29. Finishing in 13th place overall and running in her personal-best performance was Arilicia Adkins. Adkins covered the rolling 5K course in 19:50.56. And rounding out the Lady Cavaliers' top-15 performers was another fantastic freshman, Elisabeth Elliott. Elliott's time of 19:59.45 placed her 15th overall and gave the Lady Cavs a great 35 second spread with their top four runners. Read the full article at: www.montreatcavaliers.com
