[Men's Cross Country] Cavaliers run well at Hagan Stone ClassicPublished by
GREENSBORO, NC (October 4, 2008) -- For the second week in a row, Wilbourn Kosgei (Jr) has led all Cavalier cross country runners across an 8K distance. Kosgei, a business administration major, finished 4th out of 175 at Saturday's Hagan Stone Classic with a new school record of 26:03.9. The race was held over a muddy course in Greensboro, NC. The Cavaliers (78 points) finished 3rd out of 9 teams in the DII/DIII division of the competition behind Bridgewater's 40 points and Lynchburg College's 65 points. "I was happy with the race, though I made a mistake at the finish line and I allowed a runner to beat me in the last few meters," said Kosgei. "That will not happen again." "Overall, the guys are progressing very well. This may have been the toughest week of volume and intensity for some of them, so it's nice to see them competing so well at this point. We had a few hiccups with some aches and pains that were attributed to the muddy course today," said Coach Larios. Finishing second again this week for the Cavaliers was Ben Hall in 28:26.8 with Justin Edwards stepping up and recording a personal best mark of 28:43.3. The Cavaliers will take a week off from competition before they jump back into action at Winthrop's Asics Invitational on October 18th.
