About two-thirds of the Georgia State indoor track and field team competed Friday in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham-Southern Panther Indoor Icebreaker. Niamh Kearney's victory in the 3,000 meters led the way.

With about 20 competitors, Georgia State's women's indoor track season gets under way Friday, Dec. 6 at the Panther Indoor Icebreaker hosted by Birmingham-Southern at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The one walk-on tryout date for the women's track and field team will be Wed., Sept. 25 from 8:30-11 a.m., head coach Chris England announced.

Georgia State cross country and track and field coach Christopher England has named Lena Bettis as his new assistant coach. Bettis will be in charge of the sprints, hurdles, relays and horizontal jumps.

ATLANTA — Georgia State track and field competed in the Sun Belt Conference for the first time during the 2013 season and broke four school records during the indoor season.

MIRAMAR, Fla. — The Georgia State track and field team scored 57 points to finish in seventh place at their first Sun Belt Outdoor championship meet at the Ansin Sports Complex.

ATLANTA — For the first time, Georgia State will compete in the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championship on May 10-12 hosted by Florida International at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla., just north of FIU's campus in Miami.
