MONTREAT, N.C. – Montreat College indoor track and field opened the 2019 season with a pair of meets this past week. The Cavaliers hosted the Annual Montreat College Indoor Kickoff Dec. 5 with 30 Appalachian Athletic Conference qualifiers and a school record before traveling to the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C. on Dec. 7 for a meet that saw 18 AAC qualifying marks, two NAIA qualifying marks, and five school records. At the Montreat College Indoor Kickoff, the Cavaliers collected seven 1st place finishes. Freshman Leanna Seagraves set a new school record in the women's pole vault with her event-winning mark of 2.97 meters. "This was an indoor meet held on our outdoor track, and we took advantage of some good weather to knock out 30 AAC qualifying marks between the men's and women's teams," said head coach Jason Lewkowicz. "The sprint/jump/throw groups got a chance to kick off their season while the mid-distance and distance squads took advantage of their strong base from cross country season to hit some qualifying marks before taking a training break for finals."
